Psychiatrist with Clinical Leadership Experience
Dr. Robert Harden has built a long career in psychiatry with expertise in child and adolescent mental health. A graduate of the University of Illinois Chicago with a BS in biology and Meharry Medical College where he earned his MD, he began his medical career in general medicine before moving into psychiatry. His early work included treating patients with the U.S. Public Health Service and working in emergency medicine with Primacare Physicians. Dr. Robert Harden completed his psychiatry residency and child and adolescent fellowship at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital in 1989 and has worked in psychiatry ever since.
From 1989 onward, Dr. Robert Harden worked in private practice while serving on the medical staffs of several Texas hospitals. He ran a private practice in Dallas providing child, adolescent, and adult psychiatric treatment until 2001. From 1995 to 2015, Dr. Robert Harden also worked at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, first as executive medical director of child and adolescent services and then vice chairman of the Department of Psychiatry. He chaired, at different times, the hospital’s Behavioral Health Process Improvement Committee and the Seclusion and Restraint Committee.
While at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, Dr. Robert Harden did consulting work for Denton State Supported Living Center. In 2015, he joined the Texas Department of Health and Human Services as a psychiatrist IV. He provided direct patient care to patients with mental health conditions for seven years before becoming a psychiatric consultant with Compassionate Psychiatric Services, where he treats patients today. Dr. Robert Harden is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
